Frequently Bought Together
The Kairi Blue High Neck Blouse is an blue art silk saree blouse worked in multicoloured floral and paisley embroidery, finished with metallic thread and sequin detailing. Kairi is the traditional name for the paisley or raw-mango motif, one of the oldest recurring forms in Indian textile design. It is built for festive wear, receptions, pujas and party dressing.
What makes it work
Off-white is the quietest possible base, which is exactly why the multicoloured embroidery reads so clearly on it. The turtle neck is the unusual part — most saree blouses open at the neckline, so a closed high neck with embroidery running up to it creates a completely different silhouette under a saree pallu. It looks structured and modern rather than traditional.
Styling it
Because the embroidery is multicoloured, this blouse pulls from many saree palettes rather than one. Plain silk, organza, chanderi, tissue and georgette sarees all work — pick out any single colour from the embroidery and match your saree to it. Skip the necklace entirely; a turtle neck leaves no room for one. Statement earrings and bangles finish the look.

Frequently asked questions
What does Kairi mean?
Kairi is the traditional Indian name for the paisley or raw-mango motif, which appears in the embroidery on this blouse. It is one of the oldest and most recognisable forms in Indian textile design.
What fabric is the Kairi blouse made of?
Art silk, in an off-white base.
What is art silk?
Art silk is short for artificial silk. It is a man-made fabric woven to give the sheen and drape of silk, without being pure silk. It is lighter on the pocket, easier to maintain than pure silk, and holds embroidery very well — which is why it is widely used for festive blouses.
Is art silk the same as pure silk?
No. Pure silk is a natural fibre from silkworms; art silk is man-made. We list the fabric of every product honestly so you know exactly what you are buying. Our tussar silk and other pure silk pieces are labelled as such.
Is the embroidery hand-done or machine-made?
This blouse is machine-embroidered. Machine work gives a denser, more uniform finish and keeps the price accessible, which is why this piece is priced below our hand-embroidered blouses.
Is custom sizing available for this blouse?
No. This design is available only in the sizes listed. We offer custom sizing on our hand-painted, chikankari and Kutch work blouses — not on this one. Please check the size chart before ordering.
What is a turtle neck blouse?
A turtle neck blouse has a closed, high neckline that covers the throat instead of opening at the collarbone. It creates a structured, contemporary look under a saree.
Can I wear jewellery with a turtle neck blouse?
A necklace will not sit well against a high neck. Statement earrings, bangles or a hand chain work much better.
Is it padded and lined?
Yes, it is padded and fully lined, so no separate camisole is needed.
Which sarees go with an off-white embroidered blouse?
Almost any. Off white is neutral, and because the embroidery is multicoloured you can match your saree to any single shade within it. Plain silk, organza, chanderi, tissue and georgette all work well.
Will the sequins come off?
Not with normal wear and correct care. Avoid soaking, scrubbing and direct ironing on the embroidered area.
How should I wash an art silk embroidered blouse?
Dry clean recommended. If washing, cold water and mild detergent, washed separately, no soaking or scrubbing, dried in shade and ironed inside out on low heat.
How long does delivery take?
We dispatch in 3–4 working days and deliver in 5–7 working days across India.
Fabric & care
Handcrafted details need a little extra care to stay beautiful.
- Dry clean first. Always dry clean the first time to protect the fabric, colour and embroidery.
- Hand wash gently, only if needed. After the first dry clean, wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not soak, scrub or wring.
- Dry in shade. Direct sunlight can fade the colour.
- Iron inside out on low heat, with a thin cotton cloth over embroidered or painted areas. Never iron directly on mirrors.
- Store in a muslin or cotton cover, not plastic, so the fabric can breathe.
Will my blouse look exactly like the photos?
Yes. Our photos are taken in natural daylight and match the piece closely. Slight colour differences can occur because of screen settings.
How do I choose the right size?
Check the size chart beside the product images. If you are between sizes, choose the larger one, as a blouse is easier to take in than to let out. Custom sizing is also available.
Can the blouse be customised?
Yes. We can make it to your measurements and design preferences. Price and delivery time may vary, as the piece is made specially for you. Customised pieces cannot be returned or exchanged, so please share your measurements carefully.
Is there margin for alterations?
Yes. Our blouses have around 2 inches of margin, so the size can be let out if needed.
How can I tell if a blouse is hand embroidered?
Look at the reverse side. Hand embroidery shows small knots and slight irregularities, while machine work looks uniform. Each product's details state whether the piece is hand-worked or machine-embroidered.
Why do handcrafted blouses cost more?
Each handcrafted piece takes days of skilled artisan work and is made individually, not mass-produced.
