Size & Delivery

Style Tips

Tussar reads warm and earthy, so it suits handloom drapes more than heavy silks. Wear it with red, maroon, mustard, rust or deep green sarees for Durga Puja, or with plain tussar, kota, linen and chanderi for temple mornings. A red-bordered white saree is the traditional Bengali pairing. Keep jewellery in oxidised silver or gold. Explore more hand painted blouses, silk blouses and festive wear blouses.

Care

The first clean must be a dry clean. It sets the colours so they stay fast and don't bleed later. As tussar silk is delicate and the artwork is hand-painted, we recommend dry cleaning after that too. Never iron directly on the painted area; iron on low heat from the reverse side.

FAQs

Is the Durga Maa design printed or hand-painted?

Hand-painted. An artist paints the figure directly onto the tussar silk. It is not a print or a transfer.

How is this different from your tissue silk Durga Maa blouse?

This one is painted on tussar silk, which has a textured, matte surface and an earthier feel. The other is on tissue silk, which is lighter with a soft sheen.

Is this blouse padded?

No, this blouse is non-padded. It is lined, with a front closure.

Can I get this blouse in my size?

Yes. We make it in any size from XS to 3XL. Custom sizes take around 15 days.

Which sarees go with a Durga Maa blouse?

Red, maroon, mustard, rust and deep green sarees suit Durga Puja, and a red-bordered white saree is the traditional Bengali pairing.

Fabric & care

Handcrafted details need a little extra care to stay beautiful.

  • Dry clean first. Always dry clean the first time to protect the fabric, colour and embroidery.
  • Hand wash gently, only if needed. After the first dry clean, wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not soak, scrub or wring.
  • Dry in shade. Direct sunlight can fade the colour.
  • Iron inside out on low heat, with a thin cotton cloth over embroidered or painted areas. Never iron directly on mirrors.
  • Store in a muslin or cotton cover, not plastic, so the fabric can breathe.
