The Red Velvet V-Neck Blouse is a red velvet saree blouse with multicoloured floral embroidery worked across the front, back and sleeves, finished with a V neckline and a tie-up back. Velvet is a winter and wedding-season fabric, and red velvet in particular is the classic partner for heavy silk sarees at receptions, sangeet nights and festive evenings.

Why velvet

Velvet has a raised pile that catches light differently depending on which way it lies, which is why a velvet blouse looks rich in photographs and under evening lighting where flat fabrics fall dull. It also has weight and structure, so it holds its shape rather than clinging. The trade-off is warmth — velvet is a cold-weather fabric, and not the most comfortable choice for a summer afternoon function.

The embroidery and the back

The multicoloured floral embroidery runs across the front, back and sleeves rather than sitting only at the neckline, so the blouse reads as finished from every angle. The tie-up back is the detail worth noticing: it turns the back into part of the design instead of a plain panel, and it gives you some flexibility in fit, which matters when a saree is worn for a long evening.

Styling it

Red velvet is the traditional partner for Banarasi, Kanjivaram and heavy silk sarees, especially with gold zari. It also lifts organza, chiffon, georgette and satin drapes, where the velvet becomes the only texture in the outfit. Because the embroidery is multicoloured, you can pick out any single shade from it and match your saree to that. Gold jewellery suits velvet better than silver, and with a tie-up back it is worth wearing your hair up.

Care

Velvet needs different care from ordinary fabrics. Dry clean only — washing flattens the pile and it does not recover. Never iron velvet directly; the heat crushes the pile permanently. To remove creases, hang the blouse in a steamy bathroom or hold a steam iron a few inches away from the reverse side. Store it hanging rather than folded, so fold lines do not set into the pile, and keep it away from direct sunlight.

Frequently asked questions

What fabric is the Red Velvet V-Neck Blouse made of?
Velvet, in red.

Is the embroidery hand-done or machine-made?
This blouse is machine-embroidered. Machine work gives a denser, more uniform floral finish and keeps the price accessible, which is why this piece is priced below our hand-embroidered and hand-painted blouses.

Is custom sizing available for this blouse?
No. This design is available only in M, L and XL. We are not able to make it in custom sizes. Please check the size chart carefully before ordering.

How does this blouse close?
It has a tie-up back, which also gives you a little flexibility in fit.

How do I care for a velvet blouse?
Dry clean only. Never iron velvet directly — the heat crushes the pile permanently. Steam it instead, from a few inches away, and store it hanging rather than folded.

Will the velvet get crushed or flattened?
It can, if folded for long periods or ironed directly. Stored on a hanger and steamed rather than ironed, the pile stays intact for years.

Is a velvet blouse too warm to wear?
Velvet is a cold-weather fabric. It is ideal for winter weddings and evening functions, but not the most comfortable choice for a summer daytime event.

Which sarees go with a red velvet blouse?
It is the classic partner for Banarasi, Kanjivaram and heavy silk sarees, especially with gold zari. It also works with organza, chiffon, georgette and satin drapes.

Is this blouse padded and lined?
Yes, it is padded and fully lined, so no separate camisole is needed.

What is the sleeve length?
10 inches.

Will the blouse look exactly like the photos?
Yes, closely. Velvet photographs differently depending on how the pile catches light, so the shade can look slightly deeper or lighter in person.

How long does delivery take?
We dispatch in 3–4 working days and deliver in 5–7 working days across India.

Fabric & care

Handcrafted details need a little extra care to stay beautiful.

  • Dry clean first. Always dry clean the first time to protect the fabric, colour and embroidery.
  • Hand wash gently, only if needed. After the first dry clean, wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not soak, scrub or wring.
  • Dry in shade. Direct sunlight can fade the colour.
  • Iron inside out on low heat, with a thin cotton cloth over embroidered or painted areas. Never iron directly on mirrors.
  • Store in a muslin or cotton cover, not plastic, so the fabric can breathe.
